Wildfire Insurance Fight Belongs In Calif.: Judge

Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 3:16 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge on Monday tossed a coverage battle between Par Electrical Contractors Inc. and four insurers over litigation stemming from the 2007 San Diego County wildfires, ruling a California court was best-suited to hear the claims.

Ace Property and Casualty Insurance Co. had filed suit against Par, a company that provides electrical power infrastructure, seeking a declaration that it has no duty to defend or indemnify it in third-party actions launched after the wildfires allegedly caused $1 billion in damage.
