Enviros To Sue Over Water Treatment Project

Law360, New York (January 09, 2012, 6:44 PM ET) -- The Center for Biological Diversity on Monday notified the U.S. Department of Interior of its intent to sue if a species of salamander is not listed as endangered, citing concerns that an Austin, Texas-based water treatment project may severely harm the species.

The center, along with the Save Our Springs Alliance, is requesting an emergency listing of the Jollyville Plateau salamander as endangered due to the proximity of shaft and tunnel construction for the city of Austin’s new water treatment plant to its habitat.
