Law360, New York (May 14, 2012, 5:15 PM ET) -- LongHorn Steakhouse operator Darden Restaurants Inc. was hit Thursday with a lawsuit in Texas federal court alleging the 370-strong chain is infringing the trademark and confusing the customers of two family-run restaurants in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Louangel Inc., owner of Longhorn Steakhouse Restaurant, claims Darden’s LongHorn chain — which has restaurants in 35 states — has gradually changed its mark since 1995 so that it now closely resembles the mark the Texas restaurant has used since 1989.
