Law360, New York (June 25, 2012, 10:10 PM ET) -- A civil servant pension fund on Friday asked a Texas state judge to step down from a case involving allegations of mismanagement of the $3 billion fund, citing personal and professional ties between the judge and Houston Mayor Annise Parker.
In a motion to recuse, the Board of Trustees of the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund argued that Judge Steven Kirkland’s relationship to Parker calls into question the judge’s ability to be neutral over the case filed by the city.
