Law360, New York (September 06, 2012, 11:46 PM ET) -- The Fifth Circuit on Thursday stayed an injunction against voter registration restrictions in Texas' election code that require anyone who delivers voter registration applications to the county registrar to become deputized.
After hearing oral arguments Thursday, a three-judge panel issued a brief 2-1 ruling staying an Aug. 2 order by U.S. District Judge Gregg Costa that preliminarily enjoined the voter registration rules, which the judge said violated the First Amendment and the National Voter Registration Act.
