Congressmen Grill Mukasey On BP Settlement

Law360, New York (March 14, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Echoing several victims of the 2005 fatal explosion at a Texas oil refinery, two prominent Democratic congressmen have questioned the U.S. Department of Justice's $50 million plea deal with BP Products North America Inc.

Reps. John D. Dingell (D-Mich.) and Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) sent a letter Wednesday requesting that Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey answer several questions about the settlement's terms.

They also asked that Mukaskey brief the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce, which Dingell chairs.
