Congresswoman Asks DOJ For Goldman Criminal Probe

Law360, New York (April 29, 2010, 1:09 PM ET) -- Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to launch a criminal probe into allegations that Goldman Sachs Group Inc. swindled investors, urging the agency to remove “criminals” from the financial system as part of regulatory reform.

Kaptur told the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday that the DOJ should investigate Goldman right away, saying she feared evidence gathered during the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's civil suit could later become inadmissible.
