Ensign Off The Hook In Probe Stemming From Affair

Law360, New York (December 01, 2010, 7:03 PM ET) -- Federal investigators have abandoned their probe into allegations that Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., committed financial improprieties related to his nine-month extramarital affair with the wife of a former aide.

The lawmaker has been informed that he is no longer a target of the investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, and that the agency has no plans to bring any charges against him related to the matter, according to a statement Wednesday by Paul Coggins, Ensign's attorney.
