Contractor Seeks Own Trial Over Hurricane Ike Fraud

Law360, New York (June 29, 2011, 5:16 PM ET) -- A businessman accused of funneling kickbacks to a former Texas county judge for helping him secure subcontracting work as part of a $3.2 million federally funded cleanup following Hurricane Ike asked for his own trial on Tuesday.

Businessman Mark Wayne Miksch was named as a defendant along with ex-judge John “Phil” Fitzgerald and former Liberty County Precinct 2 Commissioner Herman “Lee” Groce in a 25-count indictment that a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas returned in January.
