Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 7:27 PM ET) -- The U.S. has stepped up its criminal and civil crackdown on foreign bribery in the past year, while enforcement in other countries has ebbed, according to a report released Tuesday by Trace International Inc.
Between 2009 and 2010, the U.S. more than doubled its rate of formal foreign bribery enforcement actions, boosting the number from 31 to 83 for both criminal and civil cases combined. Meanwhile, enforcement actions by other nations altogether plummeted from 23 in 2009 to six in 2010, the report said.
