Ex-Rothstein Partner Charged For Check-Kiting, Campaign Fraud

Law360, New York (April 09, 2012, 3:31 PM ET) -- Federal prosecutors in Florida on Monday accused a former shareholder at convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein’s law firm of helping Rothstein run a check-kiting scheme while also making illegal political contributions to John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Steven N. Lippman, 49, a former shareholder of bankrupt Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler PA, was charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the government, according to an information filed in Florida federal court. He faces a maximum of five years in prison.
