Gupta Loses Bid To Keep Rajaratnam Wiretap From Jury

Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 7:51 PM ET) -- A federal judge on Wednesday refused former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta's request to exclude a wiretapped conversation between him and jailed hedge fund founder Raj Rajaratnam from his upcoming trial on insider-trading-related charges.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff said that the recording of the call — a 24-minute chat wherein Gupta reveals discussions about acquisition plans that went on at a Goldman board meeting — is the sole wiretapped discussion between the two and clearly relevant to the case against Gupta....
