Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 12:55 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge sentenced a Houston-area nurse on Wednesday to eight years in prison for orchestrating a $5.2 million Medicare fraud scheme in which patients were falsely described as feeble so the government could be billed for home health care services.
Ezinne Ubani is among 11 Texas residents convicted in the rip-off linked to Family Healthcare Group, where employees and associates accepted kickbacks in exchange for providing bogus prescriptions, approving unnecessary oxygen tanks and using Medicare beneficiary numbers to bill for at-home nursing.
