Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 4:06 PM ET) -- A Wichita, Kan., doctor and his chain of heart clinics will pay over $1.5 million to settle allegations they falsely billed Medicare for treatments of coronary artery disease, sparking a criminal investigation, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.
Roger Evans submitted Medicare claims for services provided by his company, EECP Heart Center of Kansas Inc., from July 2005 to July 2009 that didn't qualify for reimbursement because Evans wasn't actually present at the clinics and didn't directly supervise the services, the Justice Department said....
