Casino Operator Seeks Light Sentence In Ala. Bribery Case

Law360, New York (July 06, 2012, 4:46 PM ET) -- An Alabama casino operator accused of bribing lawmakers to vote for pro-gambling legislation asked a federal judge on Thursday to give him a lenient sentence, saying he was a “fall guy” for 10 other defendants indicted in the scheme.

Ronald E. Gilley requested a sentence of three months in prison followed by six months of home confinement and three years of supervised release. Gilley, who pled guilty in April 2011 to 11 counts of conspiracy and aiding bribery and money laundering, faces up to 27 years...
