News Corp.'s Brooks Formally Charged With Phone Hacking

Law360, New York (August 02, 2012, 6:43 PM ET) -- British prosecutors on Thursday formally charged former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks with phone hacking, the latest development in a scandal that has rocked Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. empire.

Brooks, 44, was charged at a Lewisham police station Thursday evening with three counts of conspiring to intercept voice-mail messages, including those of Milly Dowler, a 13-year old British girl who went missing in 2002 and was later found murdered, according to a statement by the Metropolitan Police Service.
