Law360, New York (October 31, 2014, 8:49 PM EDT) -- The United States Department of Justice's Antitrust Division has posted record criminal fines in recent years, primarily through a few strings of very productive investigations. Since January 2009, the division has obtained over $4 billion in criminal fines with the filing of over 300 criminal cases.[1] After attaining a then-high of $1.01 billion in fines in 2009, followed by two years of approximately one half that total in FY 2010 and 2011, the division again topped the $1 billion mark in FY 2012 and 2013, reporting $1.4 billion and $1.02 billion respectively.[2] As the division has embarked on more investigations which are international in scope, as well as further developing cooperative relationships with their foreign antitrust enforcement counterparts, these totals have increased....
