AT&T Beats Bascom Suit Over Online Filtering Patent

A Bascom patent for a method for filtering Internet content proved to be too abstract for a Texas federal judge, who granted AT&T Corp.’s motion to dismiss the infringement claim on Friday.

The claims of the patent filed by Bascom Global Internet Services Inc. do not recite a sufficiently inventive concept to make them much more than an attempt to monopolize the abstract idea itself, U.S. District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn ruled.
