EU's Vestager Pushes Antitrust World To Tackle Subsidies

European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager has made blockbuster state aid probes like a $13 billion tax decision over Apple Inc. a centerpiece of her tenure. Now she wants other competition enforcers worldwide to start considering whether taxpayer support is interfering with competition.

Vestager, the European Union’s top antitrust official, said Friday at a Washington, D.C., conference that the European Commission would like to bring the question of subsidies into international competition fora where global antitrust agencies discuss cooperation and convergence.
