The state of New Jersey has joined a $22 million settlement to resolve former Genzyme Corp. employees' False Claims Act allegations in Florida federal court that the company marketed its Seprafilm adhesion barrier for unapproved uses, Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said Wednesday.

A surgeon asked a Florida federal judge Friday for permission to intervene as a plaintiff in a qui tam lawsuit accusing Genzyme Corp. of improperly marketing its Seprafilm adhesion barrier, alleging the current plaintiffs' firm unfairly cut him out of the case.
