DePaul University implored an Illinois federal court to grant it an early win in a former religious studies instructor's lawsuit alleging he wasn't rehired because of his Arab American heritage, arguing that the university's finding that he'd had sex with a student in his class precluded him from the position.

An Illinois federal judge on Tuesday dismissed most of a former DePaul professor's lawsuit alleging the university botched an investigation into allegations of his sexual misconduct and then wrongfully refused to rehire him, preserving only one racial discrimination claim.
