A Pennsylvania federal judge put an early end on Friday to an ageism suit against ViacomCBS Inc. and affiliates KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV by a reporter whose contract expired while on leave for injuries he suffered performing an on-air stunt, finding KDKA provided legitimate, nondiscriminatory reasons for not renewing his contract.

A former features reporter from Pittsburgh TV station KDKA wasn't fired when his contract expired while he was on medical leave for injuries he sustained performing a stunt on air — and so he could not claim he was discriminated against for his age, attorneys for ViacomCBS Inc. argued to a Pennsylvania federal court on Tuesday.

ViacomCBS Inc. asked a Pennsylvania federal court Monday to cut swaths of an injured KDKA-TV reporter's age discrimination lawsuit, claiming the complaint was larded with accounts of CBS' alleged mistreatment of other employees and that some of the reporter's claims were still working their way through state administrative remedies.
