Waste Management of Illinois Inc. and a dispatcher asked an Illinois federal judge for final approval of a deal that would pay up to nearly $228,000 to as many as 78 workers who were allegedly underpaid for overtime hours.

Waste Management Inc. failed to pay overtime to at least hundreds of dispatchers and routers by making them do unpaid off-the-clock work before and after shifts while working from home due to COVID-19, according to a proposed class and collective action in Illinois federal court.
