A Tennessee federal court has denied a former Popeyes franchise employee's bid for default judgment in her wage suit against one of the fast food joint's operators, ruling that even though the franchise owner has not responded to the suit, it's not clear whether the owner has been properly served.

A former employee of a Popeyes franchise accused the company of failing to properly pay employees overtime and threatening to fire her after she complained, according to a proposed collective action filed in Tennessee federal court.
