Cargill and a group of employees who alleged their compensable hours were insufficiently tracked and paid for after the company's Kronos timekeeping software went down in a ransomware attack have agreed to settle their dispute for $2.4 million.

Apology payments made to Cargill Inc. workers inconvenienced by a ransomware attack on the company's timekeeping software did not erase the company's liability for what the employees alleged was a failure to track and compensate them for overtime hours, a Minnesota federal judge ruled.
