Ohio State University, the NCAA, The Big Ten Conference Inc. and a media rights licensing company urged an Ohio federal judge to toss a proposed class action brought by former Buckeye star quarterback Terrelle Pryor alleging they engaged in an anticompetitive conspiracy to monopolize profits on athletes' names, images and likenesses.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has signed an executive order directing colleges in his state to immediately begin compensating student-athletes when their names, images or likenesses are used, saying it is needed as athletes await final approval of the settlement in massive NCAA litigation over NIL use.

Former Ohio State University star quarterback Terrelle Pryor, whose college career abruptly ended after the NCAA suspended him for profiting off his own memorabilia, filed a proposed antitrust class action in Ohio federal court Friday accusing the NCAA and others of profiting from his name, image and likeness while denying him and other athletes compensation.
