According to a press release from the organization, the consultation seeks to simplify the funding application process for those representing the public interest, including public interest groups and academics; members of equity-deserving groups such as Indigenous Peoples, racialized Canadians and persons with disabilities; and official language minority communities.
This funding can be used to cover some of the costs of participating in proceedings, such as commissioning expert research, conducting surveys or obtaining legal advice. The initiative is part of the CRTC’s efforts to ensure broader and more effective public engagement.
Comments on the consultation are being accepted until Sept. 9, 2025. Interested parties can submit their input through various channels listed here.
