Austria's energy market still lacking competition, watchdogs say

( June 24, 2025, 10:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Austria's energy sector still suffered from a lack of functioning competition across the country, the Austrian antitrust authority said today as it published the final report of a joint investigation with energy regulator E-Control. Suppliers dominate their network areas, holding market shares between 68 to 98 percent. While electricity and gas prices have declined in the meantime, end-user prices are still not reaching pre-Ukraine war levels, the authority said.
