Sumitomo Rubber's Dunlop subsidiary swiftly settles Japan resale pricing case

The Japan Fair Trade Commission, or JFTC, said the case was resolved through the commitment procedure after Dunlop voluntarily reported the conduct, cooperated with the investigation and submitted tailored remedies. The settlement was finalized just three months after the probe opened — the fastest such resolution to date. Dunlop Tyre Japan, a tire-sales subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, has avoided penalties after Japan’s competition regulator closed its investigation into suspected resale price maintenance. The Japan Fair Trade Commission, or JFTC, accepted the company’s remedial commitments following its voluntary self-report and full cooperation, allowing for a swift resolution....
