South Korea's Yanolja, YeogiEottae hit with fines for abusing motel operators

( August 12, 2025, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Yanolja and YeogiEottae, two top South Korean online-lodging platforms, have been fined a combined 1.5 billion won (about $1.1 million) for abusing their superior bargaining position over small and mid-sized motel operators, the Korea Fair Trade Commission said today. The regulator found that both companies sold advertising products bundled with discount coupons, then unilaterally voided any unused coupons without refunds or carryover. Yanolja was fined 540 million won and YeogiEottae 1 billion won, and both were ordered to stop the practice and inform their partner accommodations.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
