US DOJ supports unwinding Delta-Aeromexico alliance

( August 11, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice told the Department of Transportation that it supports its tentative decision not to renew antitrust immunity for alliance agreements between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico, saying that competitive open market access is critical to mitigate the potential loss in competition that may result from a grant of immunity to an international airline alliance. “The record evidence suggests that restrictive and potentially discriminatory practices by the Government of Mexico have limited entry and expansion by certain carriers at [Benito Juárez International Airport] and thereby undermined competitive conditions in Mexico, thwarting open market access on routes between Mexico and the US,” the DOJ said in a comment.
