PepsiCo queried by US lawmakers over potentially illegal price discrimination

( May 12, 2025, 15:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senators Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker and Representative Jerry Nadler wrote to Ramon Laguarta, CEO of PepsiCo, demanding an explanation for the company’s potentially illegal price discrimination against small and independent grocery stores. They said that as food prices remain sky-high, the Federal Trade Commission should continue to enforce the Robinson-Patman Act to promote fair competition in the food industry. They asked the PepsiCo CEO to answer several questions by May 25 so they can better understand Pepsi’s pricing strategies and to ensure protections for small businesses and consumers.
