China urges US to withdraw Section 232 tariffs on drones, components

( August 20, 2026, 09:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China has urged the US to immediately withdraw tariffs of 10 percent to 100 percent on imported drones and related components imposed under Section 232 of the US Trade Expansion Act. The spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Commerce said at a regular press briefing on Thursday that the measures discriminate against Chinese products, harm Chinese companies, disrupt global drone supply chains and undermine fair competition. The ministry said Chinese drones exported to the US are mainly used for civilian purposes, including agriculture, equipment inspections and entertainment. Excerpt of the transcript follows (in Chinese)....
