US judge skeptical of Meta workers' AI layoff claims, points to arbitration

Orrick said the current record does not persuade him that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits and that their claims are likely better suited for arbitration, where plaintiffs can pursue their request for an independent audit of Meta’s layoff decisions.A group of former Meta Platforms employees who allege the company illegally used AI to target disabled workers for layoffs will likely not get a preliminary injunction preserving their employment and benefits, a US judge in San Francisco said Monday....
