REA Group removes restrictive agency-contract terms after Australian antitrust probe
( September 14, 2026, 01:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Online property giant REA Group has provided an undertaking to remove restrictive provisions from its contracts with real estate agencies following an investigation by Australia’ antitrust watchdog launched in May 2025. In a statement on Monday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said the regulator was concerned that REA’s contracts with real estate agencies contained anticompetitive restrictions, including clauses that required all properties to be listed on its website realestate.com.au. In a separate statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, the REA Group said that it engaged constructively with the regulator and has agreed to certain commitments including not to require that real estate agency customers list all or a majority of their properties on realestate.com.au. The company confirmed that the regulator has not issued legal proceedings against REA and there has been no finding of legal wrongdoing.Statement follows. REA's ASX statement is attached....
