UK pension providers could gain more freedom to e-mail savers under new proposal

The finance ministry is consulting on new legislation to enable the Financial Conduct Authority’s “targeted support” regime, which aims to widen access to simplified financial advice. The ministry said it's working with the UK privacy regulator to explore changes to direct-marketing restrictions, including the current limits of the “soft opt-in” exemption for automatically enrolled pension providers.UK pension providers could soon be allowed to send a wider range of e-mails to savers without first securing their explicit consent, under new proposals detailed in a government policy paper published today....
