Plaintiffs defend claims in US Google Chrome privacy case

( October 9, 2025, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plaintiffs suing Google over whether it allowed Chrome users to give meaningful consent for the collection of their data when they weren't logged into a Google account opposed a motion to dismiss “dormant claims” from the case. They said Google cannot show that first-party websites obtained actual consent to share user data — particularly where Google is making a clear promise to the contrary — and that plaintiffs had an expectation of privacy because Chrome expressly promised their information would not be shared.
