Boost clean energy production, improve efficiency, EU lawmakers say

( June 25, 2025, 09:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU must ban all imports of Russian fossil fuels by 2027 at the latest, and must diversify its energy sources to reduce the risks linked to over-reliance on a single supplier, the European Parliament’s energy committee said today. In an own-initiative report on the EU’s energy security, adopted by the committee, lawmakers also underline the need to boost domestic clean energy production and improve energy efficiency to cut dependence on external suppliers. The report is intended to feed into the European Commission’s upcoming overhaul of the EU energy security framework, expected early in 2026. The full parliament is set to vote on the text in July.Press release follows....
