In it, the Financial Conduct Authority has introduced three new circumstances where it will announce investigations: where it suspects an offense linked to unregulated activity; where a firm has already announced the investigation; and on an anonymous basis where it would help to educate the public about the types of conduct it is investigating. The FCA scaled back its original plan to publish more information about investigations into regulated firms following a backlash from the industry — its so-called "name and shame" proposal.
