Bank resolution framework deal reached by EU lawmakers, governments

( June 25, 2025, 21:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU lawmakers and the Council, representing EU governments, struck a deal this evening in Brussels on the Crisis Management and Deposit Insurance framework, or CMDI, after their ninth negotiating meeting on this package proposal. The reform is designed to strengthen the existing EU bank crisis management framework and enhance the resolution process for small and medium-sized banks. Key issues in this reform include the creditors’ hierarchy in the event of bank resolution, a so-called “bridge-the-gap mechanism” and provisions on the decision-making process of the Single Resolution Board.See attached press release....
