UK small banks' simplified prudential framework published by watchdog

( October 28, 2025, 12:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Small banks in the UK have received the near-final rules of the Prudential Regulation Authority's Strong and Simple Framework, a simplified prudential framework for UK small and domestically focused deposit takers. The final policy and rule instruments will be published in early 2026 and the implementation date is Jan. 1, 2027. One of the PRA proposals is to create a new Single Capital Buffer framework, excluding small banks from the Capital Conservation Buffer and Countercyclical Capital Buffer. The Financial Policy Committee welcomed the move and said it will simplify the capital regime, making it easier and less costly to comply with, while maintaining the overall level of resilience.Statements are attached....
