Tech platforms’ data on deceased children under review in proposed UK plans

( December 15, 2025, 11:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Access to information about a deceased child’s online activity is the focus of new UK draft guidance setting out how platforms should handle requests from bereaved parents, including disclosure policies, response times and support channels. The draft proposal by UK regulator Ofcom, published on Monday, comes with new data-preservation rules, which require services to retain relevant material for coroners and address gaps that families said had previously complicated access requests. Together, the measures build on Ofcom’s earlier consultations about preventing the routine deletion of data. The draft proposal is open for feedback until March 23.Statement follows.
