( May 6, 2026, 04:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea aims to expand pilot programs applying post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, across key infrastructure in 2026, including telecommunications, finance, transportation, defense and space, following pilot projects in healthcare, energy and public administration in 2025, the Ministry of Science and ICT said Wednesday. Under the initiative, consortiums will be selected to implement PQC across the country’s science and technology research network, credit card payment systems, intelligent transportation systems, the Defense Ministry’s smart military platform and satellite communications infrastructure. The ministry also plans to launch a five-year R&D program focused on developing an autonomous PQC transition and management platform, optimizing PQC for lightweight hardware such as IC chips, advancing verification technologies for PQC cryptographic modules and developing hybrid technologies that combine PQC with quantum key distribution.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
