The owners of an apartment complex where a manager allegedly assaulted two Black children for swimming in a pool told a North Carolina federal court Monday the community is a private establishment not subject to discrimination laws for public accommodations.

A North Carolina apartment complex and its management company have been hit with a federal civil rights lawsuit after a property manager allegedly poured soda on a Black child for swimming in the pool with his sister, the children's parents said.
