IRS Tells DC Circ. Sharing Proof Would Harm Investigation

The Internal Revenue Service would compromise an investigation if it were to release more than 15,000 documents in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, the agency argued in a brief filed Tuesday with the D.C. Circuit.

If the IRS were to provide Frank Agrama with the documents in response to his FOIA request, it would spoil an investigation the agency was pursuing into his potential failure to file forms related to the ownership of foreign companies, the brief said.
