New Mexico will not charge interest on late payments after having extended tax deadlines to July 15 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, the state Taxation and Revenue Department has announced.

A news release issued Wednesday said that interest on late payments or penalties for late filing will not be incurred if the new July 15 deadline is met. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced March 20 that filing and payment deadlines would be extended from April 15 to July 15 because of the global outbreak of the virus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.
