A Florida federal judge has denied a bid by Institute of Shipboard Education Inc. to dismiss claims that it's liable for the death of a crewmember who died while aboard one of its vessels, saying the court has jurisdiction over its claims because the conduct of its agents in Florida gave rise to the suit.

A Florida federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit brought by the father of a seaman who died while aboard the college student-focused MV World Odyssey cruise liner, finding that the United States is the proper venue for the case, not the Bahamas.
