A Washington hospital and the medical coder who accused it of compelling workers to push through ostensible meal breaks without adequate compensation told a federal court Monday they reached a settlement in principle to their dispute.

A Washington hospital has not been paying hourly workers for requiring them to work through meal breaks and has a timekeeping system that rounds hours to the nearest 15-minute increment, cheating workers out of overtime pay, an ex-medical coder alleged in a proposed class action in Washington federal court.
