The U.S. Department of Justice will pay $1.2 million to resolve a suit from a former staff assistant who said a California immigration judge routinely subjected her to explicit, lewd comments and once told her he would "make her straight" if they had sex.

A California immigration judge subjected a former staff assistant to "egregious" sexual harassment, including by describing in "graphic detail" the colleagues he wanted to sleep with, telling the assistant to sit on his lap and stating that he could "turn her straight," according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.
