Two Chubb units asked a Florida federal court to toss a Miami 7-Eleven franchisee's bid for defense coverage in a negligence suit stemming from an employee assault, arguing that the underlying claims are plainly excluded under their policies.

A Chubb unit must provide coverage for a suit against a 7-Eleven franchisee claiming an employee repeatedly struck and injured a customer, the store operator told a Florida federal court, saying its general liability carrier wrongly looked beyond the underlying claims in order to deny coverage.
